Antibiotic susceptibility profile of bacilli isolated from the skin of healthy humans BJM
Tarale,Prashant; Gawande,Sonali; Jambhulkar,Vinay.
Abstract In the present work, twelve bacilli were isolated from four different regions of human skin from Bela population of Nagpur district, India. The isolated bacilli were identified by their morphological, cultural and biochemical characteristics. Seven isolates were Gram negative rods, out of which five were belong to genus Pseudomonas. Three among the five Gram positive isolates were identified as Dermabactor and the remaining two Bacillus. Their antimicrobial susceptibility profile was determined by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. The isolates showed resistance to several currently used broad-spectrum antibiotics. The Dermabactor genus was resistant to vancomycin, although it was earlier reported to be susceptible. Imipenem was found to be the...

Bacterial contamination in milk kitchens in pediatric hospitals in Salvador, Brazil BJID
Cairo,Romilda Castro; Silva,Luciana Rodrigues; Andrade,Carol Ferreira de; Barberino,Maria Goreth de Andrade; Bandeira,Antônio Carlos; Santos,Kleber Pimentel; Diniz-Santos,Daniel R..
Milk may represent an important source of infectious agents to hospitalized pediatric patients. To describe the bacterial microflora isolated from the hands, stools, pharynx of all workers at milk kitchens in pediatric hospitals in the city of Salvador, Brazil, as well as in the formulas prepared by them, we carried out this cross-sectional study with all 91 workers from the 20 milk kitchens of all the public and private hospitals in Salvador, Brazil. Hand and pharynx swabs and stool samples were collected from all workers, as well as samples of the milk and formulas delivered by the kitchens. All samples were cultured for the detection of pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria. Pathogenic bacteria were isolated from 20 (22.0%) and 8 (8.8%) cultures of the...

Citrus Peel Oils Supplementation in Broiler Diet: Effects on Performance, Jejunum Microflora and Jejunum Morphology Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Erhan,MK; Bölükbaşı,ŞC.
ABSTRACT This study was carried out to determine citrus peel oils (orange, lemon, bergamot) as food supplementation in different levels on performance, microflora and morphology in broilers. The trial consisted of 1-day-old male and female Ross 308 chicks (250 male 250 female). The study consisted of 10 groups in total and each group was replicated five times. Experimental diets were prepared by adding orange, lemon and bergamot peel oil levels (1,2 and 3 mL/kg) to basal diet. It was observed that the supplementation of citrus peel oils to the diet improved significantly the feed conversion rate. Especially the lowest feed intake and the best feed conversion ratio were received from broilers which were fed 3 mL/kg of orange peel oil. The study shows that...

Effect of Bacillus subtilis natto on growth performance in Muscovy ducks Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Sheng-Qiu,T; Xiao-Ying,D; Chun-Mei,J; Jing-Jing,P; Shan-Shan,L; Jin-Ding,C.
The aim of the present study was to determine whether dietary Bacillus subtilis natto could affect growth performance of Muscovy ducks. A total of 120 hundred Muscovy ducks at the age of 1 day were randomly assigned to four groups (30 Muscovy ducks/group), and fed with diets supplemented with 0% (control group), 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.4% Bacillus subtilis natto, respectively during the 6-week feeding period. Weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion efficiency of Muscovy ducks were significantly improved by the dietary addition of Bacillus subtilis natto, and the results were more significant in 0.4% dietary Bacillus subtilis natto treatment group; Also, Bacillus subtilis natto reduced Escherichia coli and Salmonella colonies, and increased lactobacilli...

Influence of Artemisia Annua on Broiler Performance and Intestinal Microflora Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Panaite,TD; Criste,RD; Vlaicu,PA; Saracila,M; Tabuc,C; Olteanu,M; Turcu,RP; Buleandră,M.
ABSTRACT The present study aimed to investigate the effect of Artemisia (Artemisia annua) supplementation as essential oil and powder, in broiler diet on performance and intestinal microflora. One hundred and eighty Cobb 500 broiler chicks assigned to three experimental groups (six replicates with 10 broilers per replicate) were housed in an environment-controlled house. Compared to the control diet, the experimental diets included 0.05 g kg-1 Artemisia essential oil (E1), 0.05 g kg-1 essential oil plus 0.1 g kg-1 powder of Artemisia (E2), respectively. Growth performance was monitored throughout days 14-42. Artemisia supplementation (E1, E2) did not influence growth performance of the chicks. Compared to the C and E1, the chicks from E2 group had a lower...

Микробиологические проблемы культивирования морских рыб на ранних стадиях развития (на примере камбалообразных) и пути их решения IBSS Repository
Ханайченко, А. Н..

A study on the potential of Lactobacillus plantarum ST1and dried fermented juice of epiphytic lactic acid bacteria (DFJLB) as probiotics was conducted with 200 broilers (1-day old). On four treatments were control (basal diet), antibiotic (basal diet + 0.05% OTC) and 0.2% DLABand1.0% DFJLB with basal diet. The birds were arranged in a Completely Randomized Design, 5 replications with 10 chicks per replication in cage. All treatments were not significant difference on growth and feed conversion efficiency in broilers(P<0.05). Significantly, lowest E. coli counts in feces fed Lactobacillus plantarumST1 and DFJLB were recorded compared to control and antibiotic (P<0.05). Lactic acid bacteria counts in cecum significantly reduced in control compared to...
